William Hames, Non-Executive Chariman / Director, Hames Sharley

William Hames is the non-executive Chair of Hames Sharley, and its founder. He is a qualified architect, urban designer and land economist with high-level skills in retail and commercial property development, including land development. William has considerable international experience, particularly in South-east Asia, where he has been responsible for a number of major retail, resort and residential developments. His forte is placing urban design into a practical, commercial realm as well as the creation of vibrant civic spaces.

William’s expertise in urban design and city planning was recognised in the design advisory committees he served on for the City of Perth and the City of South Perth. He currently serves on the Design Advisory Panel for DevelopmentWA, and in 2024 was elevated to Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia.
