Rob Corcoran, Principal, Hames Sharley

Rob is a highly skilled design professional with over 20 years’ experience designing and delivering award-winning projects worldwide. A versatile expert across retail, adaptive reuse, industrial and mixed-use portfolios, Rob brings a cross-disciplinary approach that ensures each project is rigorously challenged and resolved from all angles.

Hailing from the Emerald Isle, Rob cut his teeth in architecture during Ireland’s Celtic Tiger boom before relocating to Australia. His approach has evolved over time into a blend of contemporary modernism with commercial pragmatism. Over the past 20 years in Australia, Rob has been fortunate enough to have been involved with some iconic projects including designing Chadstone Shopping Centre, and more recently Sydney’s Castle Towers and Westpoint Blacktown adaptive reuse retail masterplan projects.

With his natural communication style, Rob believes that the best outcomes result from meticulous planning and a solid strategic foresight from the start, supported by evidence-based design solutions. He works closely with clients from concept to completion, helping them navigate their goals while balancing design vision with the commercial realities of property development. Above all, Rob values strong relationships.

Rob advocates for clever, collaborative efforts where everybody has a voice, not just within the team but also in the broader community, where his insights are often sought out by peers and partners alike, as an active and curious leader in the architectural industry.

“Keep it simple, beautiful and functional and reach solutions that benefit everyone. That’s the responsibility we bear – we can and do make a difference.”
