As part of the tender for the National Centre for Sports Aerodynamics, the South Australian Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing requested the upgrade of the Adelaide Super-Drome to meet the standards of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to allow the venue to host future international events. This brief included a new infield safety fence and official timing system, LED live video screen, automatic infield entry door and security upgrades.

While previous research and briefing documents were provided, Hames Sharley’s consultation and return briefing process demonstrated that prior assumptions were different to current aspirations, changing the project direction. The team undertook significant research and design testing, focusing on best-practice, supplier capability and end-user functionality.
