The Hamilton Senior High School redevelopment is an exciting project to transform a former high school site into a high-quality residential precinct that provides innovative medium density housing amongst new high-quality community open spaces. Hames Sharley provided urban design, planning and architecture skills to guide the redevelopment process through the production of a master plan, structure plan, local development plan, subdivision plan and design guidelines for the area.
OneOneFive Hamilton Hill is within a unique location, that is close to universities, established schools, the historic Fremantle Town Centre and the coast. Our team worked with the unique qualities of the site, including the natural topography of the land, and existing established vegetation. The project introduces approximately 300 new homes across a range of different diversity types – from detached dwellings, to terraces, micro lots and apartments.
Hames Sharley worked with landscape architects Josh Byrne & Associates to incorporate new public open spaces, that complement the needs of future residents and whilst ‘inviting in’ the surrounding community. The project has set new benchmarks for sustainability through a six-leaf certification with the UDIA EnviroDevelopment Tool. The team worked collaboratively to ensure the design response worked with the existing landform and natural heritage to minimise cut to fill, increase tree canopy coverage, and reduce the urban heat island effect.
