one40william Visitor Interface and Business Lounge

This project was a reinterpretation of the existing visitor experience at one40william, with the aim to create a more functional and welcoming design for the public interface. The space supports interaction for all government agencies located within the building and acts as a destination for members of the agencies to work, meet and interact with each other or ‘touch down’ between meetings.

A design narrative that took cues from the nine regions of Western Australia was created for one40william with the Department of Finance during the project to complete Levels 5 and 6. As the public interface component was at the heart of the project, a shifting scale of this narrative led the project team to zoom in and celebrate the landmarks within the Perth CBD. Using landmarks as design influencers, a holistic architectural language for the building was created. Adjacent to the public interface area are training room facilities, a large boardroom, a breakout area and business lounge, the latter of which aims to encourage interaction and communication between resident and visiting government agencies.
