First solar bike path in the Netherlands

A bike lane that generates power from the use of solar panels was opened on the 12th November in Krommenie, northwest of Amsterdam.

Billed as the world’s first solar-powered bike path, it is currently 230 feet long, comprising 2.5 by 3.5-metre concrete modules, costing $3.7million and will eventually power street lights, traffic systems, electric cars and households.
