Hervey Bay Hospital’s new Emergency Department is going full steam ahead with Stage 1 of the project now complete, and Stage 2 recently commencing the pouring of the level one slab.
Stage 1 encompassed the ‘early works package’ which included excavation work, a carpark and a new helipad. Stage 2 includes this configuration of a new Emergency Department that compliments the existing facilities.
Health and Ambulance Services Minister Cameron Dick said, “as well as the new emergency department, the three-storey building will include a new Clinical Decision Unit, education and training facilities, offices and space for future inpatient units”.
“This visionary project has planned for future patient demand and allows for flexibility to expand future inpatient services to make sure this hospital is keeping pace with Hervey Bay’s growing community,” he said.
The new building is expected to open in late 2018.
