Rebecca's Mission to Help Africa
My whirlwind African building experience began with another Adelaide architect and friend asking me to help out a volunteer company with some drafting work. This involved drafting up girls and boys dormitories for Sirua Aulo Academy, a primary school in the district of Transmara. Then through February and the beginning of March, with the help of Hames Sharley, I embarked on a volunteering experience through Western Kenya with Village Volunteers.

Hames Sharley Receives Award for Sustainable Design
Hames Sharley was the proud recipient of the 2009 Basset Award for Sustainable Development at the Property Council State Chapter Awards held last Friday (20th February 2009) evening for its work on the University of Western Australia’s Biomedical Research Facility in Shenton Park.

Order of Australia for Hames Sharley Director Warren Kerr
Hames Sharley’s commitment to excellence was re-affirmed last month with the announcement that Health Group Director Warren Kerr, had been appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his services to architecture and his contribution to the planning and design of major health facilities.

With the assistance of Hames Sharley and individual supporters, Rebecca Walsh from our Adelaide office will travel to Kenya this month to work as a volunteer with the not for profit organisation “Village Volunteers”.

New Headquarters Makes and Environmentally Friendly Start
