The Urban Development Institute of Australia’s South Australian chapter held their annual awards luncheon on Friday 25th October and a Hames Sharley designed (with DKO Architecture) project was among the recipients.
The Glenside development took out awards in three categories: Best Master Planned Development,
Best Residential Development and Urban Renewal.
The Glenside development forms an important part of the Government of South Australia’s vision for delivering an inspiring urban future. The site is positioned in a highly sought-after location in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, adjacent the city’s expansive parklands and is only 2.6km from the Adelaide CBD. The 17.1ha site is close to existing schools, shops, public transport, public open space and other quality homes with frontages to two of Adelaide’s major arterial roads.

Hames Sharley in conjunction with DKO Architecture created a medium to high density, mixed-use urban neighbourhood with high quality public spaces and innovative built form. Hames Sharley, in partnership with Cedar Woods developed a design concept that meets the following project objectives: to create a vibrant mixed-use hub that is connected and enhanced by high quality public spaces of well-designed retail; to provide a range of high quality, innovative housing options, including affordable housing; to integrate the site’s heritage housing options to create a unique and distinctive place; to promote sustainable living; to maximise economic development outcomes and to stimulate urban renewal.
